Chrome: For Mac [Updated]
Today CodeWeavers (makers of the popular “CrossOver Mac” which allows you to run Windows apps on Mac without Windows) released a free CrossOver for Chrom(e/ium)… it is technically “chromium, the open-sourced project for Chrome, but it’s still the same app, I haven’t yet tested it, but this should do for mac users who want to give it a try, see it in a great blog post here, you can download it here, and please comment about what you’re experience is. It’s also to note that Google will soon release a version of Chrome for mac which will be optimized for both the Mac OS, the Mac OS X graphics interface, and the Mac Hardware. But give it a try.
[UPDATE Sept 21 10:30 AM] – After many tests, I can determine that this version is very (very, very, very, very) slow. This version isn’t exactly the fastest anyone will ever see Chrome… This should a considdered a conceptual preview-if you want to see it at the best you should test it in a Windows virtual machine, either using VirtualBox, Parallels, VMWare, or on a real Windows PC.

Greasemonkey Scripts

Greasemonkey is a useful extension for Firefox, however this week, I saw that Mitchell McKenna (@MitchellMckenna) mentioned that Chrome now installs Greasemonkey scripts. If you aren’t fully aware of the power of Greasemonkey take a look here (link here). First off, the best place I’ve found to get GM scripts is userscripts.org, a (mostly) free

This week has been an interesting week: it’s been Windows 7 week! I chose not to write about Windows 7 this week because for most people it’s not big news –I’ve had it for months from MSDN, a lot of those who care have tried the betas, and most “regular” people don’t upgrade their operating
Google Offers IE Plug-in To Improve Internet Experience, Google Chrome Frame

Last September I first wrote about Google’s reimagining of what a web browser should be and the technology that they use to do that, all of this to improve the user experience of web apps including Google Apps, and most other HTML5 or Javascript heavy web sites. Today, just little more than 12 months after

As I may have noted, I’ve purchased every version of Mac OS X. That means that I’ve been around for some of the less-than-great versions and features and have seen those features eventually get finely tuned to become a seamless part of my computing experience. However there were some features that were perfect from day

Requirements for Growth

I have been a mostly faithful mac user since 2003 when I got my first Mac (an eMac). It shipped with 384 MB memory, an 800MHz G4 proc, a 40GB HDD, a CD-ROM drive that I had swapped for a combo—then eventually SuperDrive. That Mac saw Jaguar, Panther, and Tiger, and like all versions of
What I Want to See from Google Chrome OS:

I just read a post on LifeHacker, the “9 must-have features” from Google’s recently announced operating system, I think what I’d like to see is greatly different from what they would like to see. No native apps: I don’t think there should be any native apps for the Chrome OS for many reasons including
Mac App: Transmission

Bittorrent. I have found what I consider to be the holy grail of bittorrent clients for the Mac, Transmission. Transmission is simply a front-end to a historic backend bittorrent engine and has been built to be (according to developer’s site), “Easy, Lean, Native, Powerful, Free” which I have interpreted as a very cutdown interface (especially
Firefox Extension: Googlepedia

I have to draw notice to this AMAZING Firefox addon, Googlepedia, this gives the user ~80% more Wikipedia-age per search (as we know, the top results to Googles searches are frequently Wikipedia links) by transforming the normally useless right half of the Google search result page into a Wikipedia viewer. This is part of my
