Skitch (public Beta)

I usually like to have some time with an app before I ‘favorite’ it. However Plasq’s newest software product for the mac, Skitch, can be an easy exception. Skitch is currently in a public beta and therefore is free for now.

There are two parts to Skitch: the OS X application and a Skitch.com user-name/account. First you create an account at Skitch.com, then you download the app. Drag the app to your “Applications” folder and open it. You are then prompted for your user name and password.

Now you are free to use it. Currently Skitch only allows picture/image/still shots, but it’s so amazing! Skitch allows you to mark on, crop, and otherwise edit your image intuitively and readily. Then you are able to share the ‘snap’ to your Skitch.com account where you can share the (what I like to call) album URL with others, or, more interestingly, via FTP, SFTP, WebDAv, etc… then give you the URL in ‘http://’ form to copy and paste into a blog post, email, or other use imaginable. The interface is very Mac: fluid, very graphic, very fun.

Give it a try for FREE! at Skitch.com.
